In Joust, you take on the role of a lancer, who makes himself comfortable on the back of a stork, and has to battle enemy riders sitting on the same animal. Your enemies face you in different waves of attacks, which offer three levels of speed and movement in this graphically nostalgic action game. In the air above you there are five platforms in Joust, which can be reached with the Ctrl or via a flying stork. The lowest platform is the largest and represents a sort of pit filled with lava. In addition to the afore mentioned key, the left and right arrow key are sufficient. In order too defeat one of your opponents, you have to touch him with your lance. Here you have to remember that it is necessary for your lance to be higher than that of your opponent for a successful strike. Once the knight of the opposing party has lost the battle against you, he lets an egg drop to the floor. If you can manage to touch the egg in a short time, you get extra points. If you are unable to touch the egg, another knight hatches, who would also like to intensively work against you. You have passed the first round, only when all the knights and eggs have been removed by you. In addition, you have only a certain time limit available to you in Joust. Once the time is up, a voracious pterodactyl turns up, who goes on the hunt for you. As soon as this bird of prey touches you, you lose one of three lives. To defeat this bird, you have hit the big beak of the bird with your lance. In addition, a lava troll lives at the bottom of the lava pit. Anyone who comes near this pit is eaten as lunch by this troll.
